Wireless Charging Application Market to Flourish on Strong Consumer Electronics Demand: MIC
May 22, 2015

According to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), wireless charging products reached US$15.8 billion in 2014—only a negligible part of the US$250 billion of smartphone sales. "Nevertheless, with Apple and Samsung releasing new products supporting wireless charging, the worldwide wireless charging market is expected to surge in 2015," says Sagitta Pan, senior industry analyst with MIC.

Worldwide Wireless Charging Market Value, 2014 - 2019

Based on a high growth trajectory, MIC forecasts that the worldwide wireless charging market value will reach around US$2.0 billion in 2015 and US$7.9 billion in 2019. Shipments of wireless charging sets are projected to reach 30 million units this year, and will maintain a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of over 60% for the next five years. Meanwhile, due to increasingly fierce competition, product ASP (Average Selling Price) is anticipated to slide.

By sector, consumer electronics will continue to get a fat slice of the pie, representing over 95% of the wireless charging market until 2019. The industrial sector, including the automobile industry, will see a stronger growth than healthcare and national defense, albeit with a far smaller market value than consumer electronics.
